About my work

Concerning the Other a collaborative art project

co-curated by Olivier Cornet, Claire Halpin and Eoin Mac Lochlainn

This is a collaborative art project that is jointly curated by Olivier Cornet, Claire Halpin and myself and brings together 10 contemporary artists to work over each other’s artworks. The idea is that in these days of conflict, mounting racism and intolerance, artists can lead the way in promoting diversity and showing concern for minorities.

The ten artists were: Brian Fay, Claire Halpin, James Hanley, Joanna Kidney, Eoin Mac Lochlainn, Miriam McConnon, Kate Murphy, Ben Readman, Gail Ritchie and Susanne Wawra

We invited them to create an initial image which would then be emailed on to the next artist in the group. The second artist will respond by working over it and then emailing it on to the third artist who also responds and passes it on. The process will continue until each of the 10 artists has worked on each of the 10 images.

It begins as a virtual project but the outcome will be 100 collaborative artworks (each piece is a new artwork at each stage) but we propose producing high quality digital art prints of the final 10 as well as a selected number of ‘in-between’ prints, which will appear in a curated exhibition at the Olivier Cornet Gallery in Dublin in September 2017.

The images on this page are two of the ‘in-between’ prints.
